TABLEY DAY-BED
SKU: NO1-1
The design for the Tabley day-bed was taken from an antique Will found years ago, the style of which was inspired by the ‘Etruscan’ fashion of the late 18th century. The classical simplicity and elegant slimness of the frame are beautifully drawn. It’s crafted wholly from beech and decorated in the Grecian scheme of black on red ochre, which has been carefully aged by scraping back layers of paint to reveal the gesso ground. It’s upholstered using the finest traditional methods and materials and is shown here with a large horsehair squab.
The name for this day-bed was chosen after the provenance of the original - Tabley, a Palladian house in Cheshire, England, built in the 1760’s.
